The diamond standard in concrete flooring

If you’re looking for a premium finish in your indoor space, you can’t go past mechanically polished concrete (MPC). Commonly seen in high-end spaces like car showrooms, bank lobbies, hotels and law firms, mechanically polished concrete is widely regarded as the Rolls Royce of concrete flooring.

As well as being the most durable, MPC floors are incredibly low-maintenance, functional and beautiful. As there is no topical coating to wear away over time, mechanically polished floors provide a first-class finish that lasts for many years. When installed by a skilled team like Sealplex, MPC floors will add a touch of luxury to your retail, commercial or office space.

Why choose mechanically polished concrete?

While polished concrete requires a larger upfront investment than other concrete flooring options, it’s tough to beat on value. In fact, when you consider that mechanically polished floors require next-to-no maintenance (as there’s no topical coating), they deliver the best value for money over a 20-year lifespan. Many customers even find they can reduce their lighting costs thanks to the reflective properties of polished concrete floors.

The mechanical polishing process

Mechanical polishing is a complex process that requires specific technical expertise. There are up to 14 steps in the process from beginning to end. The first step is to grind the floor, then grout to fill any holes or cracks. From there, a densifier is applied to strengthen the floor’s surface, before diamond encrusted resin pads are used to buff the floor to its desired shine. The mechanical process typically takes two to three days, depending on the size of the area, level of exposure and whether there are any obstacles. Once the process is complete, mechanically polished floors can be walked on immediately.
